Luis C. Muniz was born in Queens, New York in 1977. He earned a B.S. in Biology from Seton Hall University in 1999 and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2006. He was as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder, molecular neuroscience group, at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Muniz has performed research on female reproductive endocrinology focusing on the molecular mechanisms for proper ovarian function and in regulating hippocampal synaptic plasticity. Dr. Muniz is fluent in Spanish.
